Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Research Center Inaugurated at Guanzhong Academy Published: May 24, 2024 Source: XAU Official Views: On the morning of May 24, 2024, the Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Research Center of Xi’an University was officially inaugurated at the historic Guanzhong Academy. Mr. Gao Yang, Director of the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, attended the ceremony and unveiled the plaque together with university leaders. The center is a research platform jointly established by the province and the municipality, marking a new chapter in the university’s efforts in the protection and research of intangible cultural heritage. The university will fully leverage this platform to gather dedicated experts and cultivate talented professionals, adhering to the principle of “protection first, rescue foremost, rational utilization, and inheritance-based development.” The center will pursue creative transformation and innovative development, aiming to forge a path that consolidates foundations, builds brands, activates utilization, and integrates heritage into contemporary life, contributing the university’s wisdom and strength to intangible cultural heritage protection at the provincial and municipal levels. Over 120 people attended the inauguration ceremony, including cultural and tourism officials from all thirteen districts and counties of Xi’an, as well as university administrators, faculty representatives, and students. The ceremony also featured guqin and tea ceremony performances.
