Xi’an University launched its graduate education initiative in 2006. Over the years, it has carried out joint graduate training programs with 19 universities including Xi’an Jiaotong University and Shaanxi Normal University. The university has been approved to establish two Shaanxi Provincial Demonstration Workstations for Joint Graduate Training, with 109 off-campus graduate supervisors employed by the joint training institutions. A total of 925 graduate students have been trained through such cooperative programs, accumulating valuable experience for the development of the university’s graduate education.

2024 witnessed a landmark breakthrough in the university’s development. It was officially added as a master’s degree-granting institution, with three professional master’s degree authorization disciplines approved, namely Education, Mechanical Engineering, and Cultural Relics. This marks a historic leap in the university’s educational level.

Standing at a new starting point for the high-quality development of graduate education, the university officially established the Graduate School in 2025 to oversee the overall management, construction and development of graduate education across the university. The Graduate School has three functional offices: the General Admissions Office, the Training and Degree Management Office, and the Discipline Construction and Quality Supervision Office, with seven full-time administrative staff members. Boasting a complete organizational structure, it ensures the standardized, orderly and efficient operation of the university’s graduate education work. To date, the university has enrolled a total of 115 master’s students.

The university attaches great importance to building a high-quality team of graduate supervisors. In strict accordance with the national standards for Four-good Mentor construction, it implements a dual-mentor training model combining on-campus academic supervisors and off-campus industry and enterprise supervisors. The university strives to build a professional supervisor team with noble teacher ethics, profound academic literacy, outstanding practical capabilities and a well-structured talent echelon. At present, the university has 131 on-campus master’s supervisors and 84 industry and enterprise supervisors, providing a solid faculty guarantee for the cultivation of high-level applied talents.
