The Shaanxi Provincial Artificial Intelligence Joint Laboratory (XAU) is a provincial-level key platform for scientific research, innovation,and technology application in the field of artificial intelligence. Based on the university's "local-based and application-oriented" institutional positioning, it addresses the needs of cultivating new quality productive forces and building a modern industrial system in Shaanxi Province. Relying on the innovation resources of collaborating institutions such as Xi'an Jiaotong University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, and iFLYTEK, it deeply integrates the university's advantageous disciplines in education, cultural heritage, electronic information, and mechanical materials.

The laboratory focuses on three core directions: intelligent perception, analysis, and decision-making of small-sample data in complex scenarios; smart education and educational cognitive intelligence; and digital cultural heritage protection.

It strives to bridge the "last mile" of AI technology deployment, serving the Qinchuangyuan innovation-driven platform and the high-quality development of key industrial chains in Shaanxi Province. It is committed to building a distinctive and leading AI application innovation and talent training base in the province.

The laboratory has established a research system covering three core directions:

1)Intelligent perception, analysis, and decision-making of small-sample data in complex scenarios: Divided into three sub-fields—"intelligent perception technology and equipment," "small-sample modeling," and "scenario-based intelligent decision systems"—it serves industrial chains such as intelligent manufacturing and smart cities. It collaborates with Xi'an Jiaotong University and Northwest A&F University to conduct research on multi-source data fusion and the lightweight fine-tuning of large models.

2)Smart education and educational cognitive intelligence: Relying on the Shaanxi Provincial University Key Laboratory of Child Cognitive Science and Education Promotion, it is divided into four sub-fields—"children's intelligent assessment," "adaptation of educational large models," "learning state diagnosis," and "teaching evaluation." Serving the smart education industrial chain, it collaborates with Shaanxi Normal University and iFLYTEK to develop "AI + Preschool/Basic Education" solutions.

3)Digital cultural heritage protection and intelligent computing for cultural tourismofthree sub-fields:intelligent protection of cultural relics, knowledge graphs for cultural tourism, and immersive content generation. It serves the cultural tourism industryandcollaborates with the Shaanxi History Museum and Qujiang Cultural Tourism to conduct research on the 3D modeling of cultural relics and the R&D of generative AI cultural tourism content.
