
Xi'an Key Laboratory on Intelligent Additive Manufacturing Technologies was officially approved in September 2018,as one of the first municipal key laboratories in Xi'an.Currently, Prof.&Dr.Peiying Bian serves as the director of the lab.The research teamhas been honoredas theShaanxi Provincial Youth Innovation Team in Intelligent Additive Manufacturing Technology, and has carried out extensive international cooperative research with distinguished professors from the United States, Singapore, Malaysia and other countries.
The lab is committed to theseamlesslyintegration of intelligent manufacturing and Industry 4.0 standards into additive manufacturing equipment and processes. It aims to address the technical bottlenecks in shape and performance control, industrialization and intelligentization for the rapid prototyping of complex components in the equipment manufacturing industry. Its core research directions cover three priority fields:research on the mechanism ofshape and performance control in additive manufacturing; the applied research on intelligent technologies for additive manufacturing;andthe intelligent optimal design of additive manufacturing structures.
The lab is equipped with acompleteset of advanced facilities to supportentire R&Dprocess, including additive-subtractive hybrid manufacturing machines, laser powder bed fusion systems, laser engineered net shaping equipment, and continuous fiber-reinforced composite 3D printers. It also possesses precision testing instruments such as residual stress analyzers, high-temperature electronic universal testing machines, fatigue and impact testers, and friction and wear testers. These facilities fullymeet the requirements formaterial preparation, microstructure observation and performance characterization.
Covering the disciplinary fields of materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering,and chemical engineering, the labfocuses on applied research oriented toindustrialneeds. It closely responds to the market needs for metal gradient materials, process monitoring, quality control and structural topology optimization in the additive manufacturing sector. By collaborating closely with local additive manufacturing enterprises in Xi'an, the labconcentrateson the R&D, talent cultivation and technology commercialization of additive manufacturing and remanufacturing for critical, hard-to-machine components in petroleum, wind turbines, chemical engineering and electronic equipment.Through continuous innovation, the laboratory has developed a series of distinctive scientific achievements inthe intelligent process regulation of additive manufacturing, providing solid technical support for the upgrading and high-quality development of the advanced manufacturing industry.
