The Xi’anKey Laboratory of Food Safety Inspection and Risk Assessment conductsscientific research and achievement transformation for the food safety inspection industry.Guided bymajor demands in the fields of food safety and human health, the lab focuses on the cutting-edge techs of food safety analysis. Aiming at chemical hazards in food, it mainly targets pesticide and veterinary drug residues,theprohibited chemicals and environmental pollutants. The lab conducts fundamental scientific research, develops rapid detection techs, and optimizes food safety risk analysis strategies, providing original innovations and technical support for policy formulation and monitoring capability improvement of the food processing and inspection industry in Xi'an.

In terms of process quality control of agricultural products, it also conducts research on quality evaluation systems, grading standards and evaluation specifications, so as to offer technical support and innovative resources for the food and agricultural product processing and testing industries in Xi'an.

At present, the lab has 18 researchers in total, among whom 16Ph.Ds. It is equipped with large-scale precision instruments, including high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS), gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), and inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), with a total equipment value of more thaneightmillion yuan.

Since its establishment, the lab has undertaken 13 provincial and above research projects and published 48 academic papers, including 26 SCI papers. Additionally, it has been granted 11 invention patents and awarded three Outstanding Achievement Awards for Scientific and Technological Research of Universities in Shaanxi Province. Moreover, more than 20 industry-universityresearch cooperation projects have been carried out with enterprises such as Shaanxi Keyi Sunshine Testing Technology Co., Ltd., Xi'an Wukong Testing Technology Co., Ltd., Yingheng Catering Consulting Management (Shaanxi) Co., Ltd.,among others.

In terms of serving the local economy and people's livelihood, the lab is basedonNorthwest China and maximizes the technical strengths of its inspection and testing platforms. Acting as a professional quality control institution for high-quality e-commerce commodities, it delivers routine quality inspection and technical assurance for premium regional products represented by "Xinjiang Quality", thereby strengthening the market competitiveness of specialty agricultural products. As an essential platform supporting the Food Safety and Inspection discipline of Xi’an University, the lab promotes disciplinary development and personnel training. Adopting a full-mentor training model, it is dedicated to cultivating high-qualitytalents in the field of food safety.
