To further deepen cooperation among countries along the Belt and Road Initiative and help university students from relevant cities gain a better understanding of Xi’an, the starting point of the Silk Road, four sessions of the International College Students Summer Camp have been successfully held in Xi’an since 2016. Co-sponsored by the Xi’an Municipal Education Bureau and undertaken by Xi’an University, the events have gathered over 500 overseas students from nearly 100 countries. Participants got to experience the profound cultural charm of Xi’an, a world-famous historic and cultural city, as well as the breadth and depth of Chinese civilization.

Under the Belt and Road Initiative, the 7th Silk Road International Summer Camp for College Students, hosted by the Xi’an Municipal Education Bureau and organized by Xi’an University, will be held in Xi’an, China from July 1 to July 7. Centered on the overarching theme“The Starting Point of the Silk Road: Living with World Heritage”, the Summer Camp blends collective cultural field visits with team-based thematic research, featuring seven distinctive research routes. Participants will explore contemporary pathways for heritage to thrive in today’s world through multiple lenses and lived, on-the-ground inquiry. Over seven immersive days, the Summer Camp offers not only an in-depth cultural heritage journey, but also a vibrant platform for cross-cultural exchange and co-creation. We warmly invite university students from around the world to join us in Xi’an—the starting point of the Silk Road—and co-write a new chapter of heritage symbiosis for the youth generation.
