The School of Chemical Engineering has 68 faculty members, including 1 National Distinguished Contribution Expert, 3 Provincial Distinguished Teachers, 2 Provincial Leading Scientific and Technological Talents, 5 Young Scientific and Technological Talents, and 18 double-qualified teachers. Senior professional titles account for nearly half of the total faculty (46%).
It has established the Provincial Key Discipline of Analytical Chemistry and the Municipal First-class Discipline of Chemistry. The school jointly trains postgraduate students with institutions such as Shaanxi Normal University and Xi'an Shiyou University, and has built practical training and employment bases with dozens of large enterprises and public institutions including Xi'an Modern Chemistry Research Institute, Xi'an Institute for Food and Drug Control, and Yanchang Petroleum Group. It has created project-based industry-oriented courses, promoted in-depth integration of industry and education, and implemented dual-certificate training of "academic certificate + skill certificate" to ensure high-quality employment for students. 22% of graduates are admitted to "Double First-Class" universities or other key institutions for further study.
The school has 4 provincial-level teaching teams, including "Analytical Chemistry Series Courses" and "Applied Chemistry Practical Teaching". It has 2 national first-class courses, namely“Instrumental Analysis”and“Physical Chemistry”, as well as provincial first-class courses such as“Industrial Analysis”and“Fine Chemical Technology”. The teaching reform has won 6 provincial-level teaching achievement awards. In the past three years, students have won more than 200 provincial and above discipline competition awards, and more than 30 provincial and above college students' innovation and entrepreneurship projects have been approved, with their innovative practical capabilities continuously improved.
The school has established provincial and municipal scientific research platforms such as the Shaanxi University Engineering Research Center (Industrial Flue Gas Purification Technology) and Xi'an Key Laboratories (Food Safety Detection, Environmental Functional Materials), as well as 3 university-level platforms including the Key Laboratory of Inorganic Functional Materials Chemistry, the Pilot Base for Fine Chemical R&D, and the Inspection and Testing Center. It is equipped with 26 large-scale analytical testing instruments such as SEM, XRD, ICP-MS, GC-MS, and specific surface area analyzers, with advanced and complete experimental conditions. In recent years, it has undertaken 15 national fund projects, completed more than 100 various technological research projects, published 230 academic papers, and obtained more than 54 authorized national invention patents. The solid scientific research accumulation provides strong support for teaching, enabling students to broaden their horizons and temper their abilities in real scientific research environments and engineering practices.
