The School of Marxism is responsible for ideological and political theory education, scientific research, and discipline construction of Marxist theory for all students across the university.

The school comprises seven public course teaching and research sections for ideological and political theory: Ideological Morality and Rule of Law, Outline of Modern Chinese History, Basic Principles of Marxism, An Introduction to Mao Zedong Thought and the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, An Introduction to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Current Affairs and Policies, and National Security Education. Additionally, it includes one section for Ideological and Political Education. It hosts the "Xi’an Guidance Center for the Integrated Construction of Ideological and Political Courses in Large, Medium, and Primary Schools" and the "Xi’an United Front Theory Research Base," and has established the first university teacher ethics workshop in the province. In 2021, the Ideological and Political Education program was approved as a provincial first-class construction program in Shaanxi Province. In 2022, it was included in the Ministry of Education’s pilot reform program for teacher qualification exemption. Also in 2022, the School was approved as a cultivation unit for key Marxist colleges in Shaanxi Province.

The School boasts a well-qualified, highly educated, high-level faculty team consisting of both full-time and part-time teachers. Currently, the faculty includes 6 professors, 10 associate professors, 16 Ph.D. holders, and 4 master’s supervisors. It has one Shaanxi Provincial Model Ideological and Political Course Teaching Studio, one Teaching Model of Shaanxi Provincial Ideological and Political Education Training, four Teaching Experts, one Team Teaching Expert, one first prize, two second prizes, two provincial undergraduate teaching innovation competition awards, two provincial or ministerial teaching achievement awards, six provincial undergraduate teaching reform projects, and one provincial first-class undergraduate course. In recent years, the School’s faculty has been awarded 5 National Social Science Fund projects, over 20 provincial or ministerial research projects, and more than 30 municipal or bureau-level research projects. They have published over 10 monographs, edited or co-edited more than 20 textbooks, and published over 30 academic papers in core journals.

The school has achieved remarkable results in talent cultivation. In recent years, some alumni remain active in middle school education in Xi'an, with several serving as principals of middle schools in the city.
