The history of the Xi'an University Library can be traced back to the Library of Shaanxi Normal School founded in 1903. The total building area of the library is 30,010 square meters. Adopting the UILAS Library Automation Integrated System, the library has realized automated management of literature acquisition, cataloging, circulation, retrieval, lending and periodical administration.

The library on Gaoxin Campus covers a building area of 29,000 square meters and implements an integrated service model of collection, lending, reading and consultation. It provides comprehensive services including literature lending, information consultation, digital reading, study spaces, innovation experience and the Double Hundred Project. The library stays open 100.5 hours per week, with digital and online resources available round the clock.

The library on Guanzhong Academy Campus has a building area of 1,010 square meters, consisting of two book stacks (General Collection and Literature Collection) as well as reading areas including the electronic reading zone. Collection books of the two campuses are accessible via inter-campus borrowing and returning. Facilities such as newspaper reading terminals and e-book lending machines are available for readers. This campus library opens 98 hours per week, with digital and online resources accessible 24 hours a day.

As of the end of December 2024, the university houses over 1.65 million volumes of physical documents, among which more than 1.19 million are open-shelf books and 16,000 are thread-bound ancient books. All open-shelf collections are accessible for open reading, with a total of 3,350 reading seats available.

The library owns approximately 1.56 million e-books in total, including 7,472 foreign-language e-books. It subscribes to CNKI and Wanfang Dissertation & Thesis Databases, covering around 6.05 million academic dissertations and theses.

Four major periodical databases are available: two foreign-language databases including Springer Link (over 2,000 journals) and EBSCO (over 11,000 journals); and two Chinese databases including CNKI Chinese Journal Full-text Database (over 8,000 journals) and CQVIP Chinese Periodical Database (over 15,000 journals).

In addition, the library provides access to Duxiu Knowledge Base, Qidian Examination Network, World Premium Courses, Art Multimedia Resource Database, Modern Chinese Textbook Database and other featured digital resources.
