Japanese Respected Sixty-Year-Old Expert Had Symposium with Students and Faculties of
Foreign Language Department

In the morning of September 8, Obamatetu, professor from the University of Tsukuba in Japan,
gave a lecture on “Japanese Folk Custom” to all the faculties and the students in Japanese major from
the school of foreign languages in the library hall.
Obamatetu is a famous sixty-yearold scholar and tourism planning expert in Japan. He is invited by the
funded project“Japanese sixty-year-old expert volunteers association”hold by Xi’an Science and Technology
Bureau and implemented by department of science technology of Xi'an University. The experts in the
association are mainly engaged in the study of “tourism study”, including tourism and resort, tourism
industry cluster, the elderly tourism, tourism planning, tourism development, tourism facilities operation, etc.
From the perspective of cultural differences among China, South Korean and Japan, the lecture is
combined with several field experience and engaged in the field of professional knowledge. Focusing
on the theme of “folk” , the lecture has been carried on the simple analysis and interpretation.
Subsequently, the teachers and students in Japanese major had a pleasant communication .
Through this lecture, we began to build an important bridge to know different cultures and deepen
the understanding with each other, strengthen the students’ language foundation, and cultivate the
students’ cross-cultural communicative competence.
