      The Eighth Asia-Pacific Translation and Interpreting Forum (the 8th APTIF) was convened grandly in Xi’an onJune17, 2016. The APTIF was called“Asian Translators Forum” originally. Asthe first conference which extends to Oceania after the forum was renamed, the 8th APTIF has built a broader platform for the communication of the Asian-Pacificregion, with the milestone significance.

　　This forum can be regarded as an international distinguished gathering in the translation circle that hasimplemented the“Belt and Road” initiative and strengthened the“Connectivity” among the Asian-Pacific countries and regions, as well as the essential platform to promote the cooperative development of economy & trade, culture and education in the area. More than 500 specialists and scholars from over 30 countries and regions attended the conference which lasted two days. Cui Jianbin and Zhangsun Furong, both members of Translators Association of China (TAC), with Zhang Wei and Ni Bo from School of Foreign Studies, Xi’an University were also invited to it. On this forum, the Joint Committee of APTIF has been established; Shaanxi“Belt and Road” Language Service and Big Data Platform has been launched; Xi’an Consensus at the 8th APTIF has been declared, all helping the Asian-Pacific translation services for further growth.

　　4 participants listened attentively to the plenary speeches, took active part in the various sessions, read the conference papers carefully and discussed the fundamental function of translation and interpreting in tomorrow’s Asian-Pacific region, in addition to language service providers’ opportunities, challenges and future.
