The 2022 Chinese Bridge Online Belt and Road Round-table International Youth Exchange Meeting raised its curtain on Oct 29. The event is sponsored by Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education and organized by Xi’an University (XAU). Vice president Wu Liandong, Dean of School of Chinese Language and Culture Prof. Hao Yandong, the Chinese- Mongolian Principal of Mongolia & China Friendship School of Mongolia Zhang Fengying, Principal of Gliera Children’s Music School of Kazakhstan Zhu Li and Dean of Language P.D. School of Thailand Ding Jiaxin as well as the Vice Dean of School of International Education Prof. Dong Hongjie, the host, attended the event, including teachers and students who would participate in the activities.

Following the trend with the times, the event contains varied sessions, such as language exchanges, thematic discussion, culture sharing and experiencing. Colorful activities have been designed, like round-table ice-breaking and Chinese folk culture experiencing, to expose the youth from different countries to the deep understanding of Chinese modern civilization and mutual learning. Vice president Wu Liandong said in her address that the Chinese bridge is a bridge for language, culture, friendship and hearts, which increases connectivity among people. Principal Zhang Fengying expressed her hope that a healthy life mode be explored, diverse culture be experienced, Chinese proficiency be improved to develop a sense of multi-culture and an optimistic attitude towards life and learning.

The promotion of mutual learning and understanding and people-to-people connectivity plays a prominent role in building a community with shared future of mankind. Through this online exchange program, the campers will enhance their understanding of Chinese language and culture and history in Xi’an and with a series of culture immersion activities.
