School of Arts Invited Dr. Kevin Nordstorm from Wright State University to Give an Academic Lecture

In the afternoon of May 27, School of Arts invited Dr. Kevin Nordstorm from Wright State University to 

give an academic lecture in the music hall located in the negative first floor of Mingde Building. 

Before the lecture, Dong Xiaofeng, the director of Department of Foreign Exchange and Cooperation, 

Yang Yiyuan, vice-dean of School of Arts, along with professional teachers majoring in musical performance 

had a friendly communication with Dr. Kevin Nordstorm. They had a deep discussion on the Three plus Two 

Project between our university and Wright State University. Before the lecture, Dong Xiaofeng introduced 

the cooperation program between our university and Wright State University and the significance of 

Dr. Kevin’s visit. After his introduction, Dr. Kevin performed two pieces of viola music with high difficulty

levels and won a warm applause of teachers and students who were present.

In the lecture, Dr. Kevin analyzed the musical education mode from elementary school to college in American 

public school through his own music learning experience. The teachers and students from School of Arts not 

only learn the professional knowledge, but also broaden their academic vision. After the lecture, Dr. Kevin 

also visited the music rehearsal room, multimedia classroom, ceramic art studio, etc. He gave a high 

evaluationto the teaching of School of Arts. Dr. Kevin expressed sincerely that he was very willing to form 

bridges between Xi’an University and Wright State University and sincerely hope that the cooperation 

between two universities can continue much longer.
