Li Jing of Arts School on European Tour with Orchestra of National Musicians

During the Spring Festival, Li Jing, a young teacher ofErhu from Xi’an University Art schoolwas invited to join theTraditional Chinese Music CultureTour along the Belt and Road for the Spring Festival, a celebrating programme of 2017Happy Chinese New Year, sponsored by China’s Ministry of Culture. This tour entailed a series oftraditional Chinese concerts. The orchestra was composed of 80 musicians of traditional Chinese instruments playing from ShaanxiBroadcastingNational Music Group, Zhejiang Song& Dance Troupe’s Orchestra. The tour covered 7 countries includingRussia, Finland, Estonia the Baltic trio ofEstonia, Latvia and Lithuania, Poland and Britain, giving performance in cities like St Petersburg, Helsinki, Tampere, Tallinn,Cesis, Liepaja,Vilnius, Warsaw , London and Moscow.

On January 25, the tour made its debut performance at St Petersburg’s Mariinsky Theatre with a guest audience of 1500, among them were Mr.Guo Ming, the consul-general in St Petersburg and Mr.Dimirov, deputy mayor of the city. The concert had “The Silk Road”as its theme. In the music halls of Europe’s deluxe theatres, this orchestra feasted the audience with such majestic Chinese national orchestral works asJiangjun Ling,  Capriccio of Dwelling in the FuchunMoutain,Silk Road Reverie,Symphonic Suites :Qiao's Grand Courtyand Sand Deere Legend, which are all original works with Chinese characteristics. The performance of the orchestra as well as the music works were highly acclaimed by the audience. To go global, be national ----this overseas tour of traditional Chinese music culture not only carried New Year ‘s Blessing to overseas Chinese compatriots,but also took along Chinese culture to foreign audience, providing them an opportunity to embrace Chinese culture so that one day the world may be suffused with Chinese culture .
