From September 23 to Sept.24,the First 'Xi'an International Academic Conference on the History & Culture

of the Silk Road" held in Xi’an Universitywas held in Xi'an University. The conference was hosted by Xi'an Bureau of Education, Xi'an University, Xi'an Educational and Cultural Exchange Academic Center of the Silk Road and Economic Belt, Research Institute of Chang’an Historical Culture Research Center. More than 80 people from the United States, Britain, Japan, Russia, Israel, Turkey, Serbia and other scholars at home and abroad attended the conference The conference aimed at discussing the functions and contribution of the Silk Road in the development of Chinese and Western history and culture from the aspects of history, education, cultural heritage, and so on, and further reflecting the innovative and leading role of the Xi'an in the construction of "the Silk Road and Economic Belt".

On the morning of September 23, the Seminar was opened at lecture hallof Mingde Building. President Xu

hosted theopening ceremony. Lei Yingjie, the Party Secretary and Li Yingke, the director of Xi'an Educational Bureau gave speeches to warmly welcome experts and scholars at home and abroad. Professor Zhou Tianyou, the curator of Xi’anQujiang Art Museum,the doctoral supervisor of Shaanxi Normal University, and American scholar TomKellie gave speeches and wish the conference a complete success.

After the opening ceremony, Professor Zhou Tianyou delivered keynote address on the Seminar. Wang Zijin,committee of Ancient Chinese History Research Center of Peking University and consultant of the study of history of Qin and Han dynasties of China and professor of Renmin University of China, gave a theme report named "RiverSource's exploration and the Silk Road Traffic". Israel scholar Meron Medzini gave a report on Israeli and Chinese "One Belt and One Road"strategy: interests, risk and strategicmeaning.

Taiwan scholar Chen Zhaoyin discussed spices used inChinese Taoism and the Silk Road. Zhu Shiguang, 

Senior expert in historical geography, professor of Shaanxi Normal University perfectly summarized the

core content of Xi'an historical culture as the starting point of the Silk Road. Du Wenyu, vice President of China's Tang Dynasty Association professor and professor of Shaanxi Normal University made a wonderful 

speech.The theme of the speech is divided into two halves. Nine scholars from home and abroad delivered

speeches on the conference, with the themes involvingtrade, archaeology, node city, cultural relics, culture, education, communication aspects of content along the Silk Road.

In the morning of Sept 24th, three groups were under the discussion. The issues which were focused on history and culture ofthe Silk Road, literature and art of the Silk Road, education and communication of

the Silk Road have been carried on thorough the heated discussion.

This conference brought together nearly a hundred of experts and scholars at home and abroad, and

the issues were all focus on the theme "Memory in Chang’an with Communications along the Silk Road".

In this seminar, scholars spoke out freely and discussed warmly. The delegates had wide discussion of

the unique function of Silk Road in promoting Chinese and foreign countries' economic and cultural communication, and the historical origin and realistic connections involving many issues, such as history, literature, art, education, and promoted the formation and functions and contribution of the Silk Road of

the cultural role of Xi'an. The seminar expanded the influence of education and culture of Xi'an and was beneficial to the understanding and trust among different areas, cities and cultures and composed the

new chapter of the construction of One Belt and One Road and the study of the Silk Road.

The Seminar received highly attention and Shaanxi Daily, Western Network,Xi'an Daily, Xi'an Television Station, Phoenix Network, Tencent, Sina and other medias all reported it.
