On the afternoon of May 26th, the launching ceremony of China-Thailand “The Silk Road” Project Initiativein Cultural and Educational Exchange was held in our university. Vice President Geng Zhanjun attended the ceremony, with the leaders of the Office of Academic Affairs, Foreign Exchange Office, Silk Road Research Center and the overall teaching staff and students majoring in International Education of Chinese Language present. The meeting was chaired by Professor Zhang Tianshe, Dean of the College of Humanities. According to the project a total of 20 students are expected to leave the country next week to Thailand for four-month educational probation, under the leadership of two teachers, Zhang Yue and Zhang Fan.

Vice President Geng Zhanjun addressed and presented the flag to the representative who is going to Thailand. He expected that the teachers and students for Thailand to inherit the fine traditions that are carrying out their work conscientiously and responsibly, abiding by the discipline of the school and the legal customs of Thailand, and hoped the related abroad will bridge the Sino-Thai cultural and educational exchanges as wellas two countries ‘friendship.

Li Zhijin, the vice dean of the College of Humanities, arranged the main task of Sino-Thai cultural exchange. She required students to establish a sense of responsibility, to cherish internship opportunities in primary and secondary schools in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Kong Jing and other places of Thailand, to seriously carry out Chinese language and culture teaching in such courses as Chinese listening, speaking, writing, calligraphy, HSK and etc., and especially to work of the improvement of their ability in international education in honor of the our country and university.

In addition, the other Directors of the Office granted the school badges to teachers and students who are going to leave and gave books worth 30,000 RMB as a gift to internship schools. The representatives of teachers and students respectively expressed they would complete the internship work with a high degree of responsibility and rigorous attitude; at the same time they would definitely spread the Chinese culture in order to make contribution to Sino-Thai cultural and educational exchanges and cooperation and the image of Xi'an.
