From October 24 to 31, 2019, Vice President Wang Xiaoping of Xi’an University led the delegations to visit Russian and Belarusian universities, educational institutions and research institutes. During this period, the delegation visited three universities, including Moscow State Normal University, Russian State Herzen Normal University and Belarusian State University of Technology. They also paid a return visit to the Institute of Metallurgical Materials of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Sino-Russian Center for the Development of Humanities Cooperation, discussed cooperation intentions and signed four Memorandums of Cooperation (MOU).
At Moscow State Normal University, the delegation of Xi'an-U first visited the 100-year-old main teaching building, academic committee hall and library. First Vice President Professor Dornov Victor, Vice President of Foreign Affairs and Director of International Exchange warmly welcomed everyone and held discussions and exchanges.
At the Institute of Metallurgical Materials of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the President of the Institute, the Russian Communication Academician and Professor Gomuliov introduced the basic situation of the Institute, the achievements made in scientific research, and the progress of cooperative research projects with China, and put forward the hope of cooperative research and development with our school in the fields of metallurgy and materials. Vice President Wang Xiaoping expressed her gratitude to the Institute of Metallurgical Materials of the Russian Academy of Sciences and hoped that the two sides would carry out substantive cooperation in personnel training, teacher and student training, improvement of teachers' academic qualifications and construction of academician workstations. She also invited experts from the Institute to Xi'an University for further academic exchanges at an appropriate time.
At the Sino-Russian Center for Cultural Cooperation and Development, the head of the center introduced the center's establishment background, development process, main work fields, main achievements and contributions to Sino-Russian cultural and educational exchanges. The two sides made an intention to cooperate on the establishment of a Chinese training base, the development of Chinese teaching for engineering majors, summer camps in primary and secondary schools, and the introduction of academicians to build academician workstations, and signed a memorandum of cooperation.
This exchange visit has strengthened the understanding between our university and universities in countries along the Silk Road, enhanced friendship, opened up a new path for cooperation between both universities and overseas scientific research institutes, further publicized our overseas Silk Road projects, and improved the reputation and influence of the university as well.
