To celebrate the second meeting of EU-China man- man dialogue mechanism which was held successfully in Beijing and the establishment of the
Institute of China and the Europe Studies, the Belgian Ambassador in China, Mr. Ma Huaiyu
(HE Mr. Michel Malherbe), on the evening of 5 September 2014 held a reception at the
Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in China,right at the time when the delegation of the
Free University of Brussels paid a visit to China.
President Xu Kewei of Xi'an-U was invited for the reception accompanied with
Dong Xiaofeng,the Director of foreign exchanges and cooperation and Cui Jianbin,
the Director of School of Foreign Studies.
President Paul de Knop and Vice President Jan Cornelis of the Free University of Brussels,
Jacqueline Couder the Dirctor of International Exchange Department,Xiaohong Tong,
the Director of China Cooperation Department and Gustaaf Geeraerts the Director of Institute
of Contemporary China attended the reception.
Our university and the Free University of Brussels, Belgium, have established exchange and
cooperative relations since 2012. In the year of 2012 and 2013, our school delegation visited
the school with the cooperation agreement signed. In 2013 , three teachers were sent
successively to the Free University of Brussels as a visiting scholar.
President Xu Kewei exchanged ideas respectively with the attendees and reached cooperative
intentions as the following:
1.In October 2014 Vice President of the Free University of Brussels will be invited to visit our
university in order to further strengthen cooperation between the two universities;
2.Three professors working as the supervisors of Chinese teachers at the Free University of
Brussels will be invited for a visit to further targeted research and deepen long-term cooperation.
3.The International Exchange Department and China Cooperation Department of the Free
University of Brussels have commitmented to continually accept our young teachers to
Brussels for a visit and collaborative research.
