　　In order to further prosper the development of archaeology and cultural relics research in Xi’an and to build the city into a world center of humanities and museums, Prof. Liu Qingzhu, a contemporary well-known archaeologist and member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, was invited to guide the construction of archaeology and cultural relics discipline on the afternoon of April 11th,.

　　Liu visited the restoration lab and the specimen room of the College of History, Culture and Tourism and gave a lecture entitled Yellow River: The Root and Soul of Chinese Culture. As regards how to boost cultural relics protection and museums construction in Shaanxi and Xi'an through the discipline improvement, he contributed his own views. Affirming the research achievements made by the Cultural Relics and Museums students of the teams of relics painting, restoration and research, Liuheld that the development of cultural relics and museum disciplines  be closely integrated with local relics protection and museum construction so as tomake a better use of relic resources, explore the in-depth value of relics and heritage and the brilliant achievements of 5,000 years of Chinese civilization.

　　Yellow River culture is the "root" and "soul" of Chinese civilization where Shaanxi and Xi'an are located in an important position, greatly significant for archaeological discovery and relic protection. As a local university, Xi'an-U can do better jobs in telling the stories behind those relics and heritages, and mechanisms and measures for protection, development and inheritance should be improved to enrich Xi'an's ancient civilization and highlight the unique charm of cultural heritage in pursuit of great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, Liu said.

　　Prof. Liu’s visit has made us more clear-minded about the positioning of our high-level application-oriented urban university and the direction of integrating discipline construction with local economic, social, and cultural development. The university’s responsibility in contributing tobuilding Xi'an into a world center of humanities and museumsis strengthened, adding momentum for the university’s determination to be “A University that Knows Xi’an Best”.

　　In the welcoming ceremony, the president, Prof. Chen Gang delivered a speech and awarded Prof. Liu with the title of"Honorary Professor". Vice President, Prof. Liu Mingli introduced Xi'an-U's achievements in recent years in discipline development, local service and urban university construction. The ceremony was chaired by Vice President, Prof. Wu Liandong, more than 150 teachers and students from the Party Office, Personnel Division, Degree and Postgraduate Management Office, College of History, Culture and Tourism attended the ceremony.
